Pastor's Welcome

As pastor of Calvary, I welcome you to worship our Lord Jesus with us this Sunday at 8:15 am or 10:45 am! Our purpose is to love our Lord Jesus with all of our heart, mind, soul and strength and then to love all persons with the Love of Jesus. I believe you will be richly blessed when you come to Calvary because we have a congregation full of loving Christians who will love you, welcome you and minister to you. Please know that we exist for the next person through the door and we want to do all we can to make you feel at home here.

I believe you will enjoy our worship service when you come. In our 8:15 am service, we have traditional worship using the organ, piano and antique wooden pulpit. In our 10:45 am service we blend contemporary Christian worship songs as we praise our Lord Jesus together, using the keyboard, guitars, drums and praise team. Every sermon I preach will be Biblical, relevant and meaningful. I know you will enjoy worshipping with us and you will be glad you came.

We have Bible study every Sunday at 9:30 am for all ages. We have excellent teachers who will help their class grow in knowledge and application of God's Word. There is great fellowship in our classes and I know it will be easy for you to meet people and come to grow in relationship with others.

Please let me or one of our members know if you have any ministry or prayer needs and we will follow up and meet your needs as soon as we can.

I encourage you to read the Bible daily and take time to pray to our Lord Jesus daily in order to remain closely connected to the Lord. Join us for Bible study and worship every Sunday and Wednesday so you can grow closer to a church family and be encouraged to live the Christian life.

Jesus loves you more than you can ever know. He loves you so much that if you were the only person that ever lived He would have died on the cross for you alone. Jesus created you to have fellowship with Him, so seek to remain closer to Jesus than any other in your life. He loves it when you pray to Him and worship Him!

Pastor Philip accepted the call as the pastor of Calvary in August 2007. He has pastored several churches in Texas since 1986. He has experience as a pastor, minister of pastoral care, pastoral counselor and Southern Baptist chaplain. He is conservative in his preaching and teaching and adheres to the Southern Baptist Faith and Message. He has been a Christian and an active member of the Southern Baptist church since 1969. He is a Spirit-filled Christian who loves Jesus as His first love, loves his wife and children as his second loves and he loves serving Jesus by ministering to others in the church and outside the church. He has earned his Doctor of Ministry and Master of Divinity degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Master of Arts in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University and Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from S.M.U. He married his wife Donna in 1982 and was ordained into Christian ministry in 1983. He is available for pastoral counseling and discipleship mentoring. His hobbies include raquetball, basketball, volleyball, miniature golf, bowling, hiking and playing drums. He loves spending his spare time enjoying his family and friends. His wife and children are Spirit-filled Christians, active church members and evangelical ministers of the Lord.
