2. Question: What version of the Bible is true?
Answer: There are many conservative Christians who will give many different opinions on this topic. As a conservative Southern Baptist Christian pastor who has studied the Bible since 1969, taught the Bible as a minister since 1982 and earned my Master of Divinity degree and Doctor of Ministry degree, it is my educated opinion, based on my indepth studies of the Greek New Testament and the many versions of the Bible, that the Interlinear Bible, the King James Version, the New King James Version and the Easy To Read Version come closest to the exact, literal translation of the original Greek New Testament. The Interlinear Bible is a very large Bible that contains the original Hebrew Old Testament and the original Greek New Testament with the English translations; this is another exact, literal translation of the original texts that is even more exact in word order than the King James Version and New King James Version. This is also the conclusion of most conservative Southern Baptists.
Please know that there are many other Bible versions that have accurate, reliable translations. I often use the Easy To Read Version and the New Living Translation when teaching and preaching to give the text more understanding. The Easy To Read Version actually translates John 8:24 as literally, perfectly, exactly and accurately as the IB (the Greek words "elo eimi" should always be translated "I AM" when referring to the deity of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as in John 8:58). The KJV, NKJV and NLT do not translate John 8:24 as literally as the IB and ETRV (the KJV, NKJV and NLT add the word "he" which is not in the original Greek).
Please know that there are false versions of the Bible that have changed the meaning of the original texts. The Jehovah's Witness "false Bible," or "book of false teachings," called "The New World Translation," has changed every reference to Jesus as Jehovah God, since that cult does not believe that Jesus is Jehovah God. Jesus said that a person must believe that He is God to be saved (John 8:24,58). Jesus said that all people should honor Him just as they honor God the Father (John 5:23). Jesus received worship as God and receives worship as God from those in heaven and on earth (John 9:38; John 20:28-29; Revelation 5:11-14).
Any translation of the Bible that changes the meaning of the original Greek is a false Bible. Our Lord Jesus told the apostle John to write His words to all people of all generations as a warning: Revelation 22:18: "If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."
